Visceral Mobility

Visceral mobilization is an integrative evaluation and treatment approach requiring assessment of structures within the body including the viscera (soft organs in the pelvis, abdomen and chest cavity), and their connections to the musculoskeletal system via the facia or ligaments. These fascial and ligamentous attachments of the viscera can become strained from surgical scars, adhesions, posture, illness, and injury. These strains can cause fixed and abnormal tensions with how the body moves and functions. This can lead to chronic irritations, pain, functional, neurological, and structural problems.

Ms. Feldt’s training in visceral mobilization is based on the approach of Visceral Manipulation (VM) developed by world-renowned French Osteopath and Physical Therapist Jean-Pierre Barral. Comparative studies found Visceral Manipulation beneficial for various disorders to include: digestive disorders, pelvic pain and dysfunction, musculoskeletal pain, and scar tissue.
